I'm back!!!!

Here I go again, attempting to keep a blog. After months and months of avoiding learning this fabulous communication, I'm determined to LEARN TO DO THIS!! Are you patient enough to come along w/ me?

In the mean time, I've been "sew" busy sewing, and have though of several things to share with new girls (or guys, actually) to the sewing craze.

First of all today, don't be afraid to add to your stash of fabric. I used to be so careful to only get fabric I needed or wanted to use immediately. I have come to realize that if I happen onto a fabric that I love, I buy it NOW, or it will be gone. There is just so much wonderful fabric out there, and fabric stores just can carry a smidgen of it, so they constantly rotate. Thus, he (she) who hesitates is lost. OR if you wait, you pay.

My sewing room closet is filled with fabric and projects, and do I hesitate to make a new purchase of fabric that I love, love, love?? Of course not, as it will not be in that spot again in about a month.

PLEASE!! I'm not saying over-spend. Just be sure if you love it, you find a way to get at least a little bit (like a fat quarter, or maybe an eighth of a yard).

That's all for now. I'm going to learn to post pictures next, because I want to show you a little trick for making all kinds of double-sided things, like pillows, and be happy with the shape of it.

Until then, I hear a fabric store calling my name!!

Time with Yia Yia

My name is Iris Nagel.

I love my Yia Yia. She came to visit me in Santa Barbara this week and we had SOOO much fun! I really love when we read books together because she uses funny voices and does all the hand motions! I have learned so much in just 4 days. I thought you should know that I am 17 months on October 28th and my favorite color is blue and I LOVE to eat. Oh, and I also really really love butterflies and my Bapa. Yia Yia bought me some really cool black Converse shoes today and I especially love them because my dada wears the same kind. My dada is the coolest by the way. He carries me on his shoulders all the time and lets me touch all the palm trees I want. He also makes sure that I always have a clean diaper and that mama lets me play in the dirt at least twice a week. She doesn't really like dirt that much. Well ladies, I could go on and on but I really must sleep. Here are just some of my favorite photos. Enjoy!

Notions

Hi, sewing girls!! I just thought of a tip the other day as I was using one of my "notions." My daughter-in-law, Katherine, has some pretty good notions, and she's so excited about that.
When you shop for notions (thread, pins, needles, seam rippers or gauges, etc. DON'T scrimp. You'll be so happy sewing w/good quality tools. You can even find them on sale occasionally, and you can always find fabric on sale, if you're patient. (That would be a tip for me, too!!) Happy sewing!
